Chobani to invest $1.2B in Pennsylvania manufacturing and warehouse campus
The 1.5 million-square-foot site is expected to create 900 jobs and process 3 billion pounds of milk once fully operational.
Yogurt maker Chobani plans to invest $1.2 billion in Pennsylvania over the next five years, building a 1.5 million-square-foot manufacturing and warehouse campus in Allentown, the company announced Tuesday.
Chobani will bring 10 production lines to the site and create 900 jobs, after spending $125 million to acquire a warehouse at 7356 Industrial Blvd. in Upper Macungie Township from Keurig Dr Pepper, Reuters reported.
Once the facility is fully operational, it will process 3 billion pounds of milk from across the commonwealth, a move Chobani says will benefit Pennsylvania dairy farmers, according to a release from Gov. Josh Shapiro’s office.
The project is set to be part of Shapiro’s FastTrack program to streamline permitting, and it follows Keurig Dr Pepper selling back $800 million of equity to Chobani, while Chobani will continue making some Keurig Dr Pepper products at the campus and Keurig Dr Pepper will continue distributing ready-to-drink La Colombe products.
