Crypto industry urges SEC to avoid blanket ETF restrictions

Grayscale, a16z, and the CCI urged the SEC to preserve current ETF classification rules and pursue faster, clearer review pathways.

Cointelegraph reports that members of the crypto industry, including Grayscale, a16z, and the Chamber of Digital Commerce (CCI), have urged the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to avoid applying blanket restrictions to novel crypto exchange-traded products.

The groups said the SEC should not treat these new products as belonging to one undifferentiated category, arguing instead for maintaining the classification rules currently in place.

They also proposed different regulatory routes to help achieve clearer and faster review timelines for these filings.

The industry letter centers on how the SEC categorizes and processes new crypto ETF formats, rather than calling for a single universal approach.
