SDV and Fenchurch combine to launch policyholder-only global law firm

The new Swiss verein, SDV Fenchurch, brings dedicated insurance recovery practices across eight jurisdictions including the US, UK and Singapore.

Insurance Business reports that Saxe Doernberger & Vita, Fenchurch Law, Wesolowski Abogados and CLIR & Fenchurch have combined to launch SDV Fenchurch, a global law firm built exclusively to represent policyholders.

The firm is structured as a Swiss verein and unites dedicated insurance-recovery practices across eight jurisdictions spanning the US, UK, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Turkey and Singapore.

According to Insurance Business, larger full-service firms such as Reed Smith and Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer have long had policyholder insurance practices, while Cozen O'Connor runs a major insurance law department that primarily represents insurers and has added insurer-side litigators in 2026.

Insurance Business adds that the differentiator for SDV Fenchurch is exclusivity, aiming to avoid conflicts or even the perception of divided loyalty as corporate buyers evaluate whether their coverage counsel could be advising insurers on related disputes. The launch follows a partnership announced in mid-2024, developed over roughly two years.
