Hashkey becomes first Asian crypto provider to join DTCC tokenization group
DTCC plans to launch access to tokenized securities in October, building on a prior SEC no action letter tied to its pilot tokenization service.
Hashkey joined the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation’s Digital Assets Advisory Services Industry Working Group focused on tokenization innovation, becoming the first Asian digital asset service provider in the program, Cointelegraph reported. The group includes more than 100 financial institutions and asset managers.
The participants are tasked with helping define how tokenized assets are issued, settled, and safeguarded at an institutional scale. Other members named include JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Nasdaq, and the New York Stock Exchange.
DTCC said it is a core post trade infrastructure provider in traditional markets, and the working group is designed to connect traditional finance with decentralized finance infrastructure. The outlet reported that DTCC plans to launch access to tokenized securities in October alongside the working group.
Cointelegraph also noted that the SEC issued a no action letter in December to a DTCC subsidiary, enabling it to offer a new securities market tokenization service. DTCC custody figures cited include $114 trillion in liquid assets, covering stocks and exchange traded funds.
