Japan says it remains ready to act in the forex market

USD/JPY was last around 156.55, down 1.4% on the day, as the yen saw little immediate reaction to the comments.

Japan’s top currency diplomat Atsushi Mimura reiterated that authorities remain prepared to act in the foreign exchange market, keeping the prospect of yen intervention on the table, according to Reuters via FXStreet.

Mimura declined to comment when asked whether Japan had conducted rate checks with market participants, which can be used ahead of intervention.

He also described current conditions in cautious terms, saying he is “neither at ease nor satisfied,” while the Japanese yen showed little immediate reaction to the remarks.

At the time of writing, USD/JPY was trading around 156.55, down 1.36% on the day, according to the FXStreet article.
