Nvidia CEO urges pragmatic AI rules at G20, warns of falling behind
Jensen Huang said policymakers should focus AI regulation on actual and pragmatic harm to avoid stifling countries’ ability to benefit economically from rapid AI advances.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang urged global policymakers to adopt more pragmatic artificial intelligence regulations at a G20 meeting in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, warning that overly strict guard rails could hinder innovation.
Speaking alongside US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Huang argued that AI rules should target actual and pragmatic harm rather than hypothetical, theoretical risks, saying excessive regulation and fear may prevent countries from capturing the economic benefits of fast-moving AI development.
Huang also warned that the worst outcome would be failing to take advantage of AI progress and being left behind as the United States and China compete in an intensifying technological arms race.
