Memecoin trading on Robinhood Chain swings tokenized stock prices

Memecoin pairs against Robinhood tokenized stock generated $217 million in volume on Sept. 2, including a Hims & Hers token spike to $132.64 while the underlying market was closed.

Memecoin traders are using Robinhood’s tokenized stock market as on-chain infrastructure, with one data snapshot showing memecoin-linked pairs generated far more activity than direct stock-token markets. According to CryptoSlate, trading volume reached $217 million on Robinhood Chain on Sept. 2, compared with $127 million through direct stock token markets.

CryptoSlate reports that traders plugged memecoin flows into tokenized Hims & Hers and Nvidia shares, with new token supply created by a single authorized participant at issuance, identified as BBVI. The outlet says this structure helped enable permissionless trading and liquidity building on existing token supplies, while the ability to correct price through fresh supply depended on when BBVI minted new tokens.

A key example involved a memecoin tied to tokenized Hims & Hers stock. CryptoSlate says BONER accumulated 31,198 of 58,714 HIMS stock tokens outstanding, about 53% of the total tokenized supply, leaving only about 20,303 tokens circulating in conventional HIMS pairs, which limited “ordinary price discovery.”

With the New York Stock Exchange closed over the weekend, CryptoSlate says the tokenized HIMS instrument printed as high as $132.64 versus the underlying stock’s $28.84 close the prior Friday, a roughly 4.6-times premium. The report adds that when the underlying market reopened, BBVI minted about 4,000 new HIMS stock tokens, worth roughly $115,000 at Friday’s closing price, pulling the token price back toward the stock’s value.

CryptoSlate also notes the scale of the tokenized float relative to the underlying company, citing about 233.3 million shares outstanding for Hims & Hers, with the 58,714 HIMS stock tokens representing about 0.025% of that count. It says reported short interest is near 58.7 million shares, so the tokenized float involved in the spike represented about 0.1% of shares already sold short.
