King Charles reiterates Harry and Meghan remain non-working royals

The communication says Harry and Meghan will continue refraining from using royal titles, with any charity work in a private capacity.

King Charles has reiterated that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, remain non-working members of the British royal family after their return to the United Kingdom, according to a letter circulated to senior government and military officials.

The letter, sent on the king’s behalf by the Lord Chamberlain, says the couple will continue to refrain from using their royal titles as they have done since stepping back from official royal duties in 2020, and that any charity work they undertake would be carried out privately.

It also notes that operational security decisions are matters for the relevant police agencies, and was shared publicly to avoid what the letter described as doubt or confusion.

The action signals palace observers have been concerned the couple’s status could enable a kind of parallel royal court, competing with working members of the family.
