Liquid pauses after alleged hackers withdraw about $320 million in BTC
Liquid disabled bridge nodes and exchanges halted or prepared to halt L-BTC deposits and withdrawals after the withdrawal attempt, according to Cointelegraph.
Cointelegraph reports that Bitcoin sidechain Liquid paused operations after actors claiming to be white hat hackers withdrew about $320 million in Bitcoin. Liquid said its bridge nodes were disabled, preventing new transactions, while exchanges had halted or were preparing to halt L-BTC deposits and withdrawals.
Cointelegraph adds that Blockstream, Liquid’s technology provider, began contacting the actors using signed on chain messages, and subsequent messages indicated the actors urged Blockstream to patch the vulnerability and update every node before restoring operations.
