Trezor says breach impacts 67,000 more U.S. customers
Trezor blamed its shipping fulfillment partner, ShipMonk, after saying ShipMonk did not erase customer data as previously assured.
Hardware wallet maker Trezor said a previously disclosed data breach is worse than the company initially reported, with an additional 67,000 U.S. customers now said to be affected.
Trezor said the leaked information includes customers' names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping addresses, and order numbers, tied to orders placed between November 2019 and August 2021.
Trezor said it had repeatedly sought written assurances from its third-party fulfillment partner, ShipMonk, confirming deletion of customer data, but later learned those assurances were based on a false premise. The company added that it emailed customers directly about the incident.
Trezor's parent company, SatoshiLabs, was investigating the breach after Trezor first announced in August that data from 11,742 customers in multiple countries had been exposed. The report also noted that previous crypto hardware data thefts have involved large email and personal data leaks, including a Ledger incident in 2020.
