Albania is positioning its capital, Tirana, as a destination for dental medical tourism, highlighting the scale of local dental capacity and the lower cost of implant work compared with Western Europe, according to BBC Business.
The report notes that Tirana’s metropolitan area has nearly 400 dental clinics, concentrated largely in the city centre serving a population of about 600,000. It says clinics increasingly target foreign customers, with English and Italian signage alongside Albanian.
Treatment prices are cited as a key draw. Dental implants in Albania are typically around €600 per tooth, similar to Turkey, while the same work in the UK, France, or Germany can cost about four times as much.
The story also points to risk concerns shaping traveler choices. A UK Foreign Office warning says it is aware of seven British nationals having died in Turkey in 2025 after medical procedures, and that some have experienced complications requiring further treatment. A Bolton window cleaner profiled in the piece says he chose Tirana over Turkey after seeing media accounts of issues in Turkey and investigating beforehand.
