Hunter Biden plans LAPTOP memecoin launch on Sept. 9
The token is set to debut on Coinbase’s Base network with a 1 billion unit supply, and insiders have allocations that include 30% for founders and up to 30% tied to outcome-based token burns.
Hunter Biden is set to launch a memecoin called LAPTOP on Sept. 9, shifting one of the most politically charged episodes from his father’s 2020 campaign into a speculative crypto asset, according to a report cited by CryptoSlate.
The project plans to debut on Coinbase’s Base network with a supply of 1 billion units. Founders, including Biden, are allocated 30% of the supply, with those tokens locked for six months before vesting over the following two years. Another 20% is reserved for two rounds of airdrops, including distributions to Biden’s Substack subscribers and wallets that lost money holding the TRUMP memecoin.
CryptoSlate also reports that up to another 30% of LAPTOP is linked to a set of political, cultural, and crypto outcomes, with tokens potentially permanently removed from circulation if conditions are met. Those conditions include Democrats winning the 2028 presidential election, Bitcoin reaching another record high, and LAPTOP surpassing TRUMP’s valuation, with the structure allowing tokens to be burned if specified prediction-market results occur, or redirected to charity if not.
The report frames LAPTOP as a direct attempt to monetize Biden’s political notoriety shortly after he criticized crypto and political influence, including claims that the Trump family exploited crypto for personal gain. CryptoSlate adds that Biden has continued to present himself as supportive of digital assets while his criticism has focused on how crypto intersects with power and private enrichment.
