Ledger CTO urges AI bug disclosure responsibility and warns against farming

The guidance comes as Ledger and Trezor say researchers should publish if vendors do not address bugs within an agreed disclosure window.

Ledger’s CTO said AI-related security research requires a responsibility to disclose findings when vendors do not remediate issues, according to Cointelegraph. The comments focus on how researchers should handle bug reports when remediation timelines are missed.

Ledger and Trezor also said researchers have an obligation to publish their findings if a vendor fails to fix a bug within a disclosure window agreed during the reporting process, Cointelegraph reported. The outlet framed the approach as a way to prevent harm when fixes are not delivered in time.

The CTO further warned against so-called attention farming, describing it as a practice that can distract from responsible disclosure and security work, Cointelegraph said. The remarks tie the disclosure standard to maintaining focus on remediation rather than publicity.
