Bombardier shares fall after Trump threatens a U.S. import ban
The threat came ahead of new Canadian tariffs on $20 billion of U.S. goods, adding near-term pressure to the aircraft maker’s outlook.
Bombardier’s shares fell on Tuesday after President Donald Trump threatened to ban the Canadian aircraft manufacturer from the U.S. unless it makes new commitments to build in the United States, according to MarketWatch.
The warning was delivered in a social media post on Monday afternoon, hours before new Canadian tariffs took effect on $20 billion worth of American goods, as part of an intensifying U.S.-Canada trade dispute.
The latest escalation also follows a broader trade battle that MarketWatch describes as involving steep import taxes and potential bans, with further developments possible soon.
