Matter Labs open-sources Prividium permissioning engine for institutions
Deutsche Bundesbank is testing and deploying Prividium on its own infrastructure as Matter Labs moves the permissioning core to public code.
ZKsync developer Matter Labs has open-sourced the permissioning engine of Prividium, its distributed ledger technology platform designed for financial institutions, enabling them to run, inspect, and modify the core code in their own environments, The Block reports.
According to Matter Labs, open-sourcing the permissioning engine allows institutions to operate a permissioned chain from public code without relying on a single vendor, while settling on a shared, credibly neutral layer.
The setup is intended to keep smart contract and token data inside the operator environment, using zero-knowledge proofs to verify correctness, the company said, adding that some Prividium components were already open source including the ZKsync OS core, the Atlas sequencer, the Airbender prover, interoperability contracts, and the block explorer and monitoring stack.
Matter Labs also said Deutsche Bundesbank, the German central bank, is the first institution testing and deploying Prividium in its own infrastructure, and Matter Labs CEO Alex Gluchowski linked the timing to feedback from regulated institutions that need to control critical infrastructure rather than depend fully on a vendor.
