New England natural gas prices remain near record discounts to Henry Hub
The discount has been driven by low-cost Appalachian and Canadian supply and weaker-than-usual regional demand, according to the EIA.
Natural gas prices at a key New England pricing hub have traded near record discounts to Henry Hub, as low-cost supply and soft regional consumption have weighed on local pricing, the EIA said.
According to the EIA, Appalachian and Canadian natural gas supplies have been available at comparatively low costs, while New England consumption has been lower than usual in recent months.
As a result, the regional hub price has stayed below the widely used U.S. benchmark Henry Hub, keeping the gap close to its widest levels on record, the EIA added.
