Verition appoints new commodities COO to expand London platform
The multi-strategy hedge fund hired Melanie Payne from Roscommon Analytics, where she previously served as London chief operating officer.
Verition has hired Melanie Payne as commodities chief operating officer in London, adding senior operational experience as the multi-strategy hedge fund continues to expand its commodities platform, Hedgeweek reported, citing eFinancial Careers.
Payne joins from Roscommon Analytics, where she served as London chief operating officer. Hedgeweek also noted that Roscommon closed its natural gas trading operation in January after losses at the desk, according to industry reporting.
Hedgeweek said neither Payne nor Verition commented on the appointment. It also highlighted that Payne previously spent a decade working in commodities at Morgan Stanley and described her expertise as building, scaling, and managing operational functions.
Hedgeweek added that Verition’s commodities team includes Gareth Walsh, an oil trader who joined in June 2025, and Simon Boon, a former Glencore trader who arrived in December. Recruitment specialists told Hedgeweek that pairing portfolio management with a dedicated commodities COO could signal investment in infrastructure to scale the operation.
