Alvopetro Energy to drill five wells in Alberta Mannville after deal

The planned program starts in the fourth quarter of 2026 with an estimated C$8.5 million cost and targets heavy oil lands added via Courser Energy.

Alvopetro Energy Ltd said it has agreed with Courser Energy to expand its Mannville heavy oil position in Alberta by adding 28 gross sections, or 14 net sections, of land.

Under the agreement, Alvopetro will drill five earning wells beginning in the fourth quarter of 2026 at an estimated cost of C$8.5 million, using open-hole multilateral wells and single-leg horizontal wells with recirculation strings to target reservoirs across the newly acquired acreage.

The company will earn a 75% working interest in the wells before payout, declining to 50% after payout, and it will also hold a 50% interest in surrounding undeveloped lands.

Alvopetro said the deal provides potential exposure to a drilling inventory of more than 75 gross locations, and it described the Courser partnership as adding ready-to-drill optionality across its wider Mannville portfolio, according to Yahoo Finance.
