Drone strike damages Ukraine-Moldova border crossing, disrupts crossing

The attack on the Starokazache–Tudora crossing in Odesa region damaged checkpoint infrastructure and forced the evacuation of 16 people, the State Border Guard Service said.

A Russian drone strike hit the Starokazache–Tudora border crossing between Ukraine and Moldova in Ukraine's Odesa region on September 9, killing two people and injuring three others, Ukraine's State Border Guard Service reported.

The strike damaged checkpoint infrastructure, vehicles, and buildings, sparked a major fire, and prompted the evacuation of 16 people, while the crossing was later closed, according to the report.

Russian drones also struck in Kyiv as Moscow continued near-continuous attacks across Ukraine, with Moldovan authorities condemning the strike and President Maia Sandu warning that Russian attacks pose a growing threat to Moldova.

The day before the border hit, a Russian drone entered Moldovan airspace, leading authorities to temporarily halt flights and delay the departure of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for Norway, the article notes.
