Global bond yields hit multiyear highs before ECB decision
The selloff drove German 10-year Bund and U.S. Treasury 10-year yields to fresh multiyear peaks during European midday trade.
A global selloff in government bonds accelerated during European midday trading, pushing yields to fresh multiyear highs, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The report said 10-year German Bunds and 10-year U.S. Treasurys both reached new multiyear peak levels ahead of the upcoming European Central Bank decision.
The WSJ Markets coverage also cited expectations for the ECB outcome as part of the backdrop for the move in sovereign yields.
U.S. Treasury buybacks were mentioned as another factor in the timing of the latest pressure on bond yields.
