HKEX ex-vice-president charged over alleged failure to declare assets
Prosecutors allege he missed a March 12 deadline after failing to report 30 cash deposits totaling more than HK$2.1 million.
The Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption has charged Geoffrey Tong Po-hang, a former vice-president of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, with allegedly failing to comply with a statutory order to declare his assets during an investigation, according to SCMP Economy.
ICAC said the notice required Tong to provide a statutory declaration covering property, expenditures and liabilities over the preceding three years.
SCMP Economy reports that ICAC officers served the notice in September last year, and prosecutors allege Tong missed a March 12 deadline without a reasonable excuse by failing to provide information about 30 cash deposits totaling more than HK$2.1 million.
The former HKEX executive, who is 39, faces a count of failing to comply with a notice issued under the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance, SCMP Economy said.
