TotalEnergies plans Angola oil output ramp after Acacia-5 find

TotalEnergies says the Acacia-5 discovery in Block 17 is targeted for first oil just three months after the June 2026 discovery, using nearby FPSO capacity.

TotalEnergies says it has made a new offshore Angola discovery, the Acacia-5 find in Block 17, and is moving to a fast-track development. The company expects first oil just three months after the discovery was made in June 2026, using available capacity on the nearby Pazflor FPSO, OilPrice reports.

The Acacia-5 discovery is expected to add 6,000 barrels per day of oil production in Block 17, OilPrice said. The project also builds on TotalEnergies' recent exploration results in Angola, including an earlier exploration success in the Lower Congo Basin.

Beyond Block 17, TotalEnergies has bought operated interest in two additional exploration blocks close to operating hubs. It has signed agreements with Angola’s national petroleum agency, ANPG, to take a 40% operated interest in Blocks 17/25 and 32/21 in the Lower Congo Basin, according to OilPrice.

TotalEnergies also cited broader motivation for exploration in Angola, pointing to incentives designed to encourage investment. The outlet notes that Acacia-5 is the second exploration success so far this year in TotalEnergies’ Angolan portfolio, following a Block 0 discovery where the company holds a 10% interest alongside operator Chevron.
