Trump launches Dallas convention campaign and pitches $5,000 dividend
The two-day event is billed around trump’s second-term record and he said the $5,000 dividend must be spent in the United States.
US President Donald Trump kicked off the Republican Party’s midterm campaign season in Dallas on Wednesday night, headlining a two-day gathering focused on showcasing his second term record and promoting candidates ahead of November’s battle for control of Congress, according to SCMP Economy.
In his remarks, Trump said the plan would provide “$5,000 to every adult,” with the condition that the dividend be spent in the United States.
The event, described by Republicans as a highly unusual convention with no formal nominating business, is also positioned as a rallying effort rather than a typical quadrennial party convention.
Trump’s speech covered domestic issues but also returned repeatedly to tariffs and the trade war, the Iran war, and immigration policies, SCMP Economy reported.
