Board of Peace unveils $2.45 billion six-month Gaza reconstruction plan
The group said rebuilding Gaza’s physical damage will cost about $35.2 billion over the medium term, plus $71.4 billion in the next 10 years.
The US-backed Board of Peace has proposed a six-month plan to begin reconstruction and governance in Gaza, outlining a $2.45 billion effort as President Donald Trump’s ceasefire plan struggles to hold.
At a board meeting, governors unveiled a 66-project blueprint covering infrastructure, education and health initiatives intended to support Trump’s 20-point plan to end the Israel-Gaza war, while acknowledging major obstacles ahead.
The board said full reconstruction from physical damage in Gaza will cost about $35.2 billion over the medium term and another $71.4 billion over the following 10 years.
The proposal is tied to a ceasefire that took effect on October 10, which was meant to clear the way for a broader rebuild process led by the Board of Peace, including further Israeli withdrawals, Hamas disarmament, an international peacekeeping force and a new apolitical Palestinian government for day-to-day administration, according to SCMP Economy.
