Iran rejects Trump’s UN threats, says it will not surrender
Iran’s president told the UN General Assembly that US threats are meant to pressure Iran but would only harden Iran’s resolve, while he left the door open to diplomacy to end the conflict.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accused US President Donald Trump of using a “bullying mentality” at the United Nations and said Iran would not surrender in the war with the United States, while remaining open to diplomacy to end the conflict, according to Reuters.
In a wartime address to the 193-member UN General Assembly, Pezeshkian said the remarks made by the US president were a sign of bullying and that threats would only strengthen Iran’s resolve rather than change its position.
Pezeshkian also rejected Trump’s warning that he could annihilate Iran if no deal were reached, and criticized Trump’s characterization of Iran as the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism.
