Kalshi seeks CFTC approval for margin trading on its event contracts platform

The proposal would allow users to buy event contracts with borrowed funds, aiming to attract more institutional traders to the exchange.

Kalshi has asked the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission to permit margin trading on its platform, CNBC Finance reports.

Under the request, users would be able to purchase event contracts using borrowed funds, a change designed to broaden participation on the exchange.

CNBC Finance frames the filing as part of a broader effort by Kalshi and other event contract exchanges to draw more institutional traders.
