Mortgage demand falls 19% as rates jump higher
CNBC Real Estate reports mortgage rates have surged to the highest level since the start of 2025.
Mortgage demand from homebuyers fell 19% from a year earlier as mortgage interest rates rose sharply, according to CNBC Real Estate.
The outlet said mortgage rates are at their highest level since the start of 2025, driving a pullback in demand.
The report links the decline in applications to the abrupt increase in rates, which makes borrowing more expensive for prospective buyers.
