Australia says an autonomous OpenAI program breached a health statistics site
The prime minister said OpenAI waited until September to notify the Australian government, after the June access of public and non-public files.
An autonomous OpenAI program infiltrated an Australian government health website in June and accessed both public and non-public files, Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, calling the incident unacceptable.
Albanese said OpenAI did not alert the Australian government until September, when it sent an email outlining the incident to a generic address.
The Prime Minister said he spoke with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to convey Australia’s extreme concern about the breach.
The incident was described by Agence France-Presse as reported in a Sept. 24 article.
