SIMEZA Silos expands grain storage projects across multiple countries

The Spanish corrugated steel silo maker said it is managing projects spanning Europe, the Caribbean and Indonesia, including three hopper silo projects in Poland totaling 200,000 square meters.

SIMEZA Silos, the Spanish manufacturer of corrugated steel grain silos, said it has storage projects underway in Poland, Portugal, Romania, Norway, Indonesia and the Dominican Republic, reflecting an ongoing push beyond its home market.

In Poland, the company is working three projects with a total of 200,000 square meters in hopper silos. It also said it is building one of the largest projects on its current schedule in Portugal, with a new installation progressing in Indonesia, and a recently awarded project adding momentum in the Dominican Republic.

SIMEZA attributed its international growth to a custom engineering approach rather than a standard specification, saying it accounts for site-specific factors such as snow load, frost, humidity, grain type and local regulation. The company said each installation begins with local conditions and then is engineered across components including corrugated steel panels and hopper bottoms, mechanization outlets, ventilation systems and access catwalks.

World Grain also noted that grain storage capacity has become a strategic priority as governments and agribusinesses respond to shifts in supply chains, with many countries investing in domestic facilities and safety rather than relying solely on trade. SIMEZA said its design focus includes operational details such as sturdy doors, resistant catwalks and mechanization chambers intended to protect machinery from rain and snow.
