US, China extend trade-war truce by two months to Jan. 10
The extension is intended to give the US time to evaluate whether China is meeting its trade commitments ahead of the January 10 deadline.
China and the United States agreed to extend their trade-war truce by two months, pushing the end date to January 10, according to SCMP Economy.
The temporary extension comes as President Xi Jinping arrived in Washington for a summit with US President Donald Trump, the outlet said.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox News that the short delay will allow the US to assess whether China is meeting its trade commitments, following additional “unscheduled” talks with Chinese Vice-Premier He Lifen, SCMP Economy reported.
