Henry Hub natural gas averaged $2.93 this summer

Even with exceptionally hot weather boosting electricity demand, the Henry Hub spot price averaged 6.0% lower than last summer.

The Henry Hub natural gas spot price averaged $2.93 per million British thermal units from June through August, according to data cited by the EIA.

Prices were 6.0% lower than the same three-month period last year, even as exceptionally hot weather lifted electricity demand for air conditioning.

The EIA said natural gas-fired power plants often help meet higher electricity demand during these summer heat periods.
