Magic Eden warns old EVM NFT listings were exposed to exploit

The company said a whitehat rescue stopped the impact, after more than 23,000 NFTs were identified as potentially affected.

Magic Eden warned that NFTs listed on its EVM marketplace between roughly February and October 2024 could be affected by an exploit tied to Limit Break's Payment Processor V2, an NFT trading protocol the marketplace previously used. Decrypt reports the risk involved lingering contract approvals rather than active listings, and the marketplace is for Ethereum and EVM compatible chains.

Magic Eden said it stopped using the Payment Processor V2 contract in October 2024 and shut its EVM marketplace entirely in early 2026, adding that no live listings were impacted by the exploit. The company urged users to revoke the V2 contract's “approved for all” permissions on Ethereum, Polygon, and Base using Revoke.cash, noting that revoking would not return tokens already moved.

The alert also said that at 9:00 AM EST on the day of the warning, someone abused a bug in Payment Processor V2 to steal 10 Meebits, 50 Otherdeeds, 10 WoW, and 235 Desperate Apewives, prompting a whitehat rescue of more than 23,000 NFTs. Magic Eden’s message emphasized that permission revocations could reduce further exposure for assets still under those approvals.
