New Jersey bill would let homebuyers request interior photo removal
The measure would require brokers to provide removal forms at closing and, under proposed penalties of $500 to $1,000 for violations, be enforceable within 30 days after a sale.
New Jersey has introduced legislation that would allow homebuyers to request the removal of interior photos from the MLS, brokerage websites, and social media within 30 days after a property sale, HousingWire reports.
Under the proposed Assembly Bill 5422, listing agents would have to provide standardized “image removal request” forms at closing, and the state Division of Consumer Affairs would be tasked with creating those forms within six months of the bill’s passage.
The bill would apply to both broker-involved listings and FSBO sellers, with violations by licensees subject to $500 to $1,000 penalties, HousingWire reports. It would take effect 90 days after the form is published.
