MultiversX mainnet restarts after exploit halt, but Kraken still blocks EGLD trades
MultiversX said its recovery upgrade was deployed and block production resumed on Sept. 24, while Kraken kept EGLD on cancel-only trading with deposits and withdrawals paused as of that date.
MultiversX said its mainnet returned on Thursday, Sept. 24, about five days after an exploit-related halt. The network said a recovery upgrade had been deployed, block production had resumed, and normal network activity could continue, with its technical account pointing to new blocks via a Sept. 24 block timestamp.
CryptoSlate reports that Kraken’s latest EGLD notice remained unchanged as of Sept. 24, keeping trading at cancel-only and pausing deposits and withdrawals. Cancel-only trading allows users to cancel existing orders, but it bars new orders and trade execution, meaning the mainnet restart did not automatically restore EGLD trading or transfers on that exchange.
MultiversX previously said on Sept. 19 that an attempted exploit of a virtual-machine atomicity issue caused invalid state changes and led to a pause in network progression. On Sept. 24, it said engineering had completed recovery checks, leaving the disruption window at roughly five days, though the statements did not specify the exact stop and restart times.
