UK diesel price nears record high as supply costs rise
The RAC said diesel averaged 198.32p per litre, close to the 199.09p all-time high hit on 25 June 2022.
UK diesel prices in the United Kingdom are expected to reach record levels over the weekend as fallout from the US-Iran war continues to lift fuel costs, according to BBC Business.
The RAC motoring body said the average diesel price at the pump is 198.32p per litre, just below the all-time high of 199.09p recorded on 25 June 2022.
RAC policy head Simon Williams said that the June 2022 peak would almost certainly be surpassed as retailers pass through higher costs from new wholesale supply.
BBC Business also reported that the Iran war has disrupted production and transportation of wholesale oil in the region, keeping pressure on diesel prices, after brief declines tied to a June framework deal to end fighting were followed by renewed tensions.
