Pete Hegseth disclosed holdings of bitcoin in 2025 financial report

The disclosure also showed $1 million in cash and retirement-account investments totaling about $2.1 million to $4.4 million.

Bitcoin Magazine reports that U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s newly released 2025 annual financial disclosure lists bitcoin holdings in a range of $16,000 to $65,000.

The filing reportedly said a bank account held $1 million in cash, and it also showed Hegseth and his wife have retirement accounts with investments valued at roughly $2.05 million to $4.35 million.

According to Bitcoin Magazine, the disclosure was filed with the Office of Government Ethics and Hegseth, appointed Defense Secretary in January 2025, is part of what the outlet describes as the most crypto friendly U.S. administration so far.

Bitcoin Magazine also notes that the Trump administration pushed for passage of the Clarity Act and had support from digital asset industry figures.
