Researchers outline a way to add Zcash-style privacy to Bitcoin transfers

Cointelegraph reports that researchers have proposed a system to enable Zcash-style private transfers on Bitcoin without requiring a soft fork.

According to the report, the approach, dubbed Shielded Bitcoin, would conceal transaction amounts, sender and receiver identities, and the links between transactions by using encrypted notes and zero-knowledge proofs.

The outlet says the paper was published by researchers at Alloc Init, including Clara Shikhelman, Mikhail Komarov, and Aleksei Moskvin, and it raises questions around anonymity and quantum resistance.
