TfL plans new public bus company in London from late 2027

Buses for London will begin with route 6, linking Willesden and Victoria station.

Transport for London says it will launch a publicly owned bus company, Buses for London, which will start running services in the capital next year.

TfL plans for the new company to take over a handful of routes from late 2027, with route 6, which runs between Willesden and Victoria station, set to be the first.

TfL said it is creating Buses for London to give the agency greater control over how bus services are run, as it aims to improve conditions for drivers and passengers.

Private bus operators have argued that passengers need faster, more reliable journeys rather than a new public operator, according to the Guardian Business.
