Google removed the paywall for free 1080p AI video generation

Google Vids is now accessible to any Google account and generates videos using Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, with new editing controls like scene extension and duration settings.

Google has removed the paywall for Google Vids, making full HD AI video generation available to any user with a Google account, the company announced on September 23, according to Decrypt.

The browser-based tool uses Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash to turn text prompts, photos, audio, or existing clips into new video footage, and Google says users can generate at 1080p resolution for free.

Google also added editing controls that previously required a paid tool, including scene extension to lengthen a clip while keeping characters, lighting, and setting consistent, plus options to set an exact scene duration.

In testing, Decrypt reports it was only able to generate 720p videos in both horizontal and vertical formats, and the article adds that Google also allows upscaling older, lower-resolution AI clips up to 1080p.
