Hong Kong development minister to publicly detail Queen Mary Hospital lift saga

Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu asked the Development Bureau for a report within a month, following the lift issues at Queen Mary Hospital.

Hong Kong’s development minister has pledged to provide a public account of her bureau’s oversight of the Queen Mary Hospital lift saga, after Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu directed the Development Bureau to submit a report within a month, according to SCMP Economy.

In an interview on a television programme, Secretary for Development Bernadette Lin said the coming report will detail why lift problems occurred, when they were identified, and why some issues had not been identified yet, with the report later disclosed to the public.

Lin also said the first phase of a follow-up investigation had already begun, but she did not indicate whether she would invoke the Heads of Departments Accountability System introduced in last year’s policy address.
