Jefferies' Christopher Wood keeps India structural growth theme in focus
The GREED & fear report, dated September 24, points to rising private-sector capex across manufacturing, renewables, and electrification.
Jefferies' Christopher Wood maintained a constructive view on India’s longer-term growth, arguing that the country’s investment story goes beyond the current global focus on artificial intelligence, according to the firm’s GREED & fear report dated September 24.
Wood said the areas underpinning the structural outlook include rising private-sector capital expenditure, manufacturing, renewable energy, electrification, and infrastructure. He also cited six emerging growth themes that blend government policy support with greater private participation: space, semiconductors, solar manufacturing, data centres, electronics, and aerospace.
Jefferies pointed to government support signals such as incentive schemes, tax holidays, and localisation requirements as part of the growth framework. Wood added that India’s structural growth story is expected to remain resilient when attention on AI fades.
The portfolio update also reflected improving signs in private-sector investment, with Jefferies noting an India figure that begins with “India's annualised nominal gross fixed” in the provided text. The excerpt also mentions adding Hitachi Energy India and flagging sectors like solar and electrification as areas to watch.
