US-Denmark-Greenland security pact could limit China’s Arctic access
A new US-Denmark-Greenland security agreement could narrow China’s room to engage in the Arctic, particularly around Greenland where resources are viewed as significant, according to Chinese experts cited by SCMP Economy.
The outlet also reports that observers expect the deal could accelerate the securitisation of the Arctic and leave Western Arctic states more cautious.
SCMP Economy adds that the agreement could potentially push Beijing closer to Russia as China adjusts its regional engagement plans in the Arctic.
