ESMA to prioritize crypto supervision on operational resilience and outsourcing

ESMA said its 2027 coordination work will include oversight of CASP operational resilience, outsourcing practices, and ensuring firms maintain sufficient operations within the bloc as MiCA implementation deepens.

Cointelegraph reports that the European Securities and Markets Authority, ESMA, plans to shift its Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, MiCA, focus from rulemaking to supervision for 2027.

ESMA said its priorities for coordinated national crypto oversight will include CASP operational resilience, outsourcing and reverse solicitation, while also working toward harmonized reporting across regulators.

The regulator also highlighted a requirement that firms maintain sufficient operations inside the European bloc as MiCA implementation advances.

ESMA framed the move as a way to support innovation within a framework that provides clarity for firms, safeguards for investors, and boosts confidence in crypto markets.
