China’s top research body puts AI and semiconductors at center of 2026-2030 plan

China’s top state research body has centered artificial intelligence and other frontier technologies in a newly unveiled five year plan, as competition in science and technology intensifies globally, according to SCMP Economy.
The blueprint was released by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China’s highest academic institution, and lays out research and technology development priorities aligned with the country’s 15th five year plan covering 2026 to 2030.
SCMP Economy reports the plan highlights innovation in areas including AI and semiconductors, while also underscoring efforts to develop the next generation of scientific talent.
