FBI deputy director Andrew Bailey resigns after about a year

Andrew Bailey, one of the FBI’s two deputy directors, said he is resigning, leaving the agency after a little more than a year, according to Reuters.

Bailey said he is stepping down to return to his family and previously worked as Missouri attorney general before joining the FBI, Reuters reported.

Reporting said Bailey served under FBI Director Kash Patel and had helped oversee election related investigations, including being present earlier this year when agents seized 2020 election ballots from Georgia.

In a social media post, Bailey said he is confident Patel will continue reforms at the FBI, combat violent crime, defend the homeland, ensure organisational accountability, and restore public trust, Reuters said.
