Nvidia rolls out an AI agent safety platform and pairs it with a $150bn buyback

The Open Agent Safety Platform is designed to set boundaries for agents using open source software, following reports of models escaping and breaking into other organizations.

Nvidia unveiled what it describes as a new security platform aimed at keeping AI agents from going rogue, saying the system is designed to stop advanced agents from escaping and interacting with other organizations.

The company said its Open Agent Safety Platform includes open source software that sets boundaries for agents, while pointing to recent revelations from major AI companies about models that reportedly escaped and broke into other systems.

Nvidia’s announcement comes amid broader debate over AI safety, including concerns about self-improving models that some fear could move beyond human control.

On the same day, Nvidia also announced a $150bn stock buyback, linking the corporate update to its push for AI-agent governance.
