AdA Underwriters wins approval to set up its own Lloyd’s managing agency

The reinsurer expects the new structure to begin on Jan. 1, 2027, with direct oversight of Syndicate 2024.

AdA Underwriters Limited, a specialist insurance underwriting business in the Lloyd’s re/insurance market, has secured regulatory approval to establish its own Lloyd’s managing agency. The approval was granted by the Prudential Regulation Authority, the Financial Conduct Authority, and Lloyd’s, with AdA expecting the new structure to take effect on Jan. 1, 2027, according to Reinsurance News.

AdA said the move is part of its ongoing development and follows its progression from an underwriting team into a Special Purpose Arrangement, then Syndicate 2024. Rather than launching a new underwriting proposition, the company said the managing agency will give it direct responsibility for management and oversight of Syndicate 2024.

The company also said the updated operating structure is intended to align underwriting, claims, and operational decision-making more closely. AdA added that it expects the change to improve flexibility and accountability in how it works with brokers, clients, and capital providers, while increasing its control over the business’s direction and day-to-day operations.
