China LNG imports likely fall again in September amid higher prices

China’s liquefied natural gas imports are set for a second straight monthly decline, driven by significantly higher prices linked to the war in the Middle East, according to OilPrice citing Kpler data.

September LNG flows to China are projected at 5.3 million tons, which would be 8.0% lower than September 2025 imports, while still slightly higher than August flows, based on the same Kpler figures cited by Bloomberg.

OilPrice notes the decline is the latest sign that price moves tied to the regional conflict are weighing on China’s LNG purchasing pace.
