China panel approves draft standards for autonomous satellite coordination
The approved package includes 10 proposed voluntary standards covering everything from mission scenarios to distributed data services and autonomous controllers.
Chinese researchers are drafting standards for autonomous satellite coordination and data sharing, a move analysts say could improve People’s Liberation Army satellite targeting speed and network resilience, according to SCMP Economy.
The Chinese Institute of Command and Control (CICC) convened an expert panel in Beijing on September 21, which approved work on 10 proposed voluntary standards and cleared the way for draft texts to be released for consultation.
The proposed standards cover a range of topics, including overall system design, descriptions of mission scenarios, distributed data services, satellite and mission data, coordination at constellation and smaller satellite cluster levels, and the design of autonomous controllers.
