Estonia links arson at Milrem Robotics site to Russian security services
Estonian officials said a fire at Milrem Robotics in Tallinn broke out on August 15, and two Latvian suspects were detained before being handed over to Estonia.
Estonian authorities said they concluded an arson attack in mid-August on Milrem Robotics, a defense company that supplies military vehicles to Ukraine, was sabotage commissioned by Russian security services, according to SCMP Economy. The decision came as Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said the actions were unacceptable and moved to summon Russia’s charge d’affaires in Tallinn to his ministry.
A fire broke out overnight on August 15 at a building in Tallinn used by Milrem Robotics, and it was brought under control, the report said, citing BNS. SCMP Economy added that Latvian suspects were detained in neighbouring Latvia starting August 17, with a third suspect detained the next day and all suspects later handed over to Estonia.
The report said Milrem Robotics supplies THEMIS unmanned ground vehicles to Ukraine. It framed the incident as part of Estonia’s attribution of the attack to Russian security services.
